"My son is in Mrs. Kirk's class at Kennedy Elementary School in Hastings. He has been really excited to be learning about the stability balls and how they help with the spine. Thanks for the education you are giving them and the process they have to use to get the balls."

Lisa R. [Chiropractic Office]

"We are WittFitt nitwits, I am telling you.
What a difference these have made in our children’s attention, behavior, and posture!"

Jerry B. [Principal]

"When I sit on the stability ball it makes me feel relaxed.   When I sit on a chair it makes my back hurt.  The stability ball helps me focus in class.  They make my grades better."

Desi S. [5th grade student]

"I love the stability balls.  They are so fun and I see my handwriting has improved a lot.  Plus the exercizes are really fun.  I think every class should have the stability balls."

Alex [5th grade student]

I absolutely LOVE ball chairs in my classroom. I tried them because I had an "active" class that couldn't sit still in their regular chairs. I wish I would have tried them sooner, it has been very effective and my class has responded beautifully. I am seeing more independence and responsibility therefore more teacher sanity!
Shannon S. [Kindergarten Teacher]

He [my son] was able to train and use the Witt stability ball in third grade.  We were amazed and delighted to see the difference this ball can make in a child’s education.  He was able to concentrate much more, his hand writing drastically improved, and thus his school work was at a higher level.  He was unfortunate to make a bad judgment and have the ball taken away for one week.  The difference in his attention in school and his school work was very noticeable.  Therefore, I begged the school to continue with the stability balls in fourth grade. They made a complete positive difference in my child’s education!!!

"I have been really amazed to see the differences that the ball chairs have made in the attention span and focus of some of my middle school students.  They are old enough to know that they are really benefiting from the use of the ball chairs."
Middle School Teacher

"It is up to us to keep our children engaged.  Any teacher would be settling for less if they are not willing to explore any option to keep their classrooms engaged.   Stability balls give us the edge to keep all children learning.  Therefore, No Child is Left Behind!"
Jonann E. [5th grade teacher]

"Thank you Lisa, for shining light on school-based postural deficiencies. It is an extremely important issue, and your message is backed by science and history. Your insights echo those that have quietly endured just beyond the mainstream for generations, and our children will benefit greatly if we all join you in the discussion."

"The stability balls have been a wonderful addition to my classroom.  The kids seems to focus better if they can move a little while they're working.  I've noticed that some of my fidgety students are a lot less restless when they are allowed to bounce on the ball."
Jayme A. (3rd grade teacher)

"The habitual sitting posture of most people is distinctly bad.
A chair conducive to good posture is a rarity. Much of the seating in public buildings
and conveyances makes wholesome sitting impossible. School seats, even those designated as hygienic or posture seats, often violate the fundamentals of posture hygiene."
Henry Eastman Bennett, 1928

"Core stability is the key to all movement. Every daily task we do involves core stability. Think about it...how much is the core engaged if we are sitting in a chair with back support? We use a fraction of the core muscles in the chair AND it is all too easy to slouch. The fit ball provides no core support to rely on. The ball is always in a dynamic position thus forcing us to recruit our core strength to stabilize us in every movement we do. The dynamic position and the need to respond to the dynamic movement also provides continuous input to our nervous system resulting in an increased state of arousal and attention."
Nikole J. (Occupational therapist)

"The balls have been a great experience for the class as a whole... A chance to move, but not disturb others."
Lynda B. (Special Education Teacher)

"It seems to give the children a little more movement without a lot of commotion and improves their posture."
Shannon W. (parent)

"The ball has helped me a lot in dance."
Kailtin S. (6th grader)

"I think the ball is a great and Chelsea seems to love sitting on it. I was skeptical at first, but I have not heard any bad comments about the ball. Chelsea says if feels "good" to sit on it . . . The statistics seem right about the ball. It helps children learn."
Kay M. (parent)

"I think they (the balls) are awesome. I have noticed improvement in Jara's (daughter) posture. She doesn't slouch when she has to sit in regular chairs. The benefits are great and kids are eager to sit on these balls."
Melissa S. (parent)

"The stability ball is great for the office. I think it has helped my posture."

WittFitt is a consulting company who promotes the integration of the stability ball into the classroom environment to enhance learning, in combination with offering an effective tool for the physical education setting.  The mission of WittFitt is to educate children and adults about the importance of proper posture, active sitting and the strengthening of muscles while fostering a wellness climate in each classroom.  Our comprehensive program leads schools/districts through the preparatory stages and effective implementation, with lifetime support/consultation.  Teachers are educated on how to safely and effectively implement the use of stability balls through our customized training designed to fit each unique classroom environment, meet student needs and link with district/state standards.  Teachers receive our WittFitt “Having a Ball” Manual [and/or PE Reference Guide] with lessons to prepare students to sit on the ball as a chair.

WittFitt promotes the use of the stability ball as a sitting device to enhance the learning environment and provide ergonomic seating.  Benefits of sitting on the ball: promotes learning through movement, allows 'active sitting,' enhances attention and concentration, assists in improving posture, improves blood flow to all parts of the body [especially the brain], strengthens core [postural] muscles and back muscles, improves balance and coordination, and adjusts for customized fit.  As a comprehensive program, we train teachers and provide all of the related materials for both teachers and students.  The program is customized to fit the needs of any classroom.  The WittFitt Teacher Guide is a teacher-ready guide to prepare students to sit on the stability ball and safely integrate balls into the classroom.  The guide also outlines movements and stretches on the ball as part of the daily routine.  The WittFitt Teacher Training is a half-day session outlining the components of the teacher guide, modeling lessons and practicing stability ball movement and stretches.  Training is provided on-site or via phone.  Our stability balls are burst-resistant, latex-free exercise balls with legs for added stability and easy storage.  A variety of balls are available to fit all ages and sizes.  WittFitt consultants maintain on-going contact with principals, teachers and other staff throughout the school year to provide support.
